All College Football… All day long!

This ain’t heaven, I know! This is a great feeling! For me, this is the first official day of fall! Growing up in Michigan, we knew that when college football started that fall was right behind. 70’s weather… ahhh. Here in Tennessee, though, it’s still hot and ugly and will be that we until the end of October. I miss Michigan falls, but that’s about it. Tennessee falls are really beautiful (especially in the mountain areas), but they take forever to get here. Well… GO BLUE! Anyway… short and sweet today! Just enjoying family and football.

Lame Friday Humor

It was probably 1 or 2 in the morning one year at Snowblast (a winter teen retreat I was working) and we reach the point of unaccountability. By that, I mean, we reached a point that we could no long be held maturely responsible for what we were doing, saying, or laughing about; it was too late and that was what sleep deprivation did to you. You say the dumbest things, do things that later you are so glad no one had a camera, and then for some reason everything was instantly funny proven with uncontrollable laughter.

So at 2 in the morning, we were up with a couple of our seniors and we began eating mounds of Laffy Taffy. Then we started reading the jokes on the wrappers. Who would have thought that utter lameness would be so hilarious? It was!

A couple weeks ago, I walked out of my office to the shipping lounge (where I dominate at bumper pool during breaks) and I noticed someone brought in a tub a Laffy Taffy. I instantly began reminiscing about those nights during Snowblast. (David Blackburn, I hope you are reading this, because you were too funny that night).

So, without further ado, here are some of the jokes from Laffy Taffy straight out of the shipping lounge at RHP.

Questions: 1. Why can’t your nose be 12 inches long? 2. What do you call a cow with the jitters? 3. What do you call twin brothers? 4. What did one window say to the other? 5. Why did the apple turnover?

Answers: 1. Because then it would be a foot! 2. A Milk Shake! 3. A Sonset! 4. I’m in “pane”! 5. Because he got jealous of the Jelly Roll!

UTTER LAMENESS! (number two was kinda funny)

Olympics, Football, Tigers, and Revival

The Olympics are over. GOOD! Some final thoughts concerning the Olympics would include a congrats to the US team who overall took 36 gold, 38 silver, and 36 bronze medals. I thought it was very nice of them to spread out their winnings. I also think that Michael Phelps is the man. I know there is debate as to what to title him… “The Greatest Ever”, “Greatest Olympian Athlete”, “Greatest Olympic Swimmer”, etc. All I know is that the man dominated and took the gold in all the events he took on. Next, I don’t understand how the Olympic committee could add a trampoline event to the games and wipe out baseball and softball. What else… ah yes, China. Other than Barak Obama thinking we ought to be more like you, I don’t have a whole lot to say. Great job on winning the overall gold medal count and for the Chinese Olympians that received silver and bronze medals, perhaps your punishment will be less severe than those who didn’t place at all.

On to the real games! College football begins this weekend with the NFL season opener right behind. Now, before I start talking football, allow me to make some personal claims. I am a Michigan Wolverine fan (my first priority), I love the USC Trojans, and I HATE SEC Fans. The SEC teams are dominant, I’ll admit, speed is where it’s at in the SEC, I just can’t stand their fans. Moving on… I wish I could say that I am looking forward to Michigan’s first game, but after what happen last year against Appalachian State, I worry. What do you say to that? Can you form an argument as to why AP St beat UofM? No, other than we stunk up the house. The Big House, even! We’ll see. I am, however, looking forward to seeing what kind of game, new coach Rich Rodriguez brings to the table.

In the NFL, I don’t have much to say and I think you will know why once I tell you where I rest my allegiance. I am a Detroit Lion fan (FIRE MILLAN, btw). See, I told you. I also like Tom Brady (former Wolverine). I need Tom. I don’t have much in the Lions as they continue to leave me at the altar year after year. I hope Brady has another record breaking season (maybe with a SB this year). People hate Tom Brady for much of the same reason I hate the SEC, He’s good!

I don’t know perhaps the opposite will happen to the Lions as opposed to what happened with the Detroit Tigers. Maybe since no one has any hope for the Lions, they will come out and dominate (yeah right, but who knows). You see, in the baseball preseason, the Tigers were the projected post season favorite and not only for this year, but for the next 2-3 years. You don’t have to be a mega baseball fan to know that it isn’t happening. The Tigers right now are next to last in their division with no hope of coming back. Blame whoever or whatever, it doesn’t matter. Shame on you guys! You STINK!

Revival – If you haven’t noticed by now… my site (pastorpusch.com) has been REVIVED. It has been brought back from the dead and I have Keith Fletcher to thank for it. We’re still making tweaks here and there, so please be patient with us, but for the most part we’re…b…a…c…k!!!
