WOW! Happy 2010 everyone! While I do look forward to the next few blog posts, I have had an extremely busy first week of the new year. I am currently serving at the Childen’s Pastors Conference talking about all things D6 and having a blast doing so. I am hoping to get back to the regular 3-4 blogs per/wk beginning next week.
Today I just had to share with you this video clip from the January 4th episode of the O’Reilly Factor. Bill O’Reilly interviews Brit Hume, Fox News Reporter, concerning his comments made suggesting Christianity as a help for Tiger Wood. Personally, I was extremely impressed by Mr. Hume’s comments. Let me know what you think.
Lately I have been intrigued by the level of discussion coming from the left side of the political aisle in regards to the Fairness Doctrine. The Fairness Doctrine would rule that all broadcasting networks that discuss controversial subject matter of public importance be presented with a fair and balanced approach. It was first introduced in 1949 but eventually abolished in 1987. Today, the liberals in congress are urging on its revival, while conservatives are accusing the democrats as those trying to silence the opposition.
My Thoughts on the Revival of the Fairness Doctrine 1. What are people like Pelosi, Reid, Stabenow, Waxman, Former President Bill Clinton, and so many other liberals so worried about? Is it not enough the left side practically has the support of just about every other media outlet in America. As a conservative I watch Fox News, a more mid to right approach to news and other subject matter. Why? CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC and most others have sold their soul to the far left side making it near gut wrenching to watch. The same can be said of most newspaper outlets as well (The Obama Times a.k.a. The New York Times).
2. The Left act as if they are being left out of radio broadcasting circle. If you feel like you do not have a voice in radio public broadcasting, then by all means, get one. No one is saying that you cannot have your own voice on radio and have your own broadcasting network. You should know better than that… watch TV. The problem is that you have tried and no one listens; at least not like they do conservative talk radio. This leads me to point number…
3. Does anyone else see this as an attack on freedom? Seriously? Everyone knows that this is an attempt by the Left to silence hosts like Hannity, O’Reily, Mark Levin, and the Great Satan himself – Rush Limbaugh (and others). Is there not a freedom of the press? Is there not a freedom of speech? Why would these rules then not apply to ALL media outlets? Rep. Henry Waxman is wanted this to not only apply to radio, but to the internet as well. TOTAL GOVERNMENT CONTROL = COM@#*$@#
4. Do not be fooled by the Lefts blatant hypocrisy. This is, by far, a ”do as I say, not as I do” approach for sure. Have we not learned anything? What just happened in our Congress over the last few weeks in regards to the “Stimulus” Bill should now prove to everyone that the liberals have a funny way of defining what is fair, balanced, and bipartisan.
5. For the most part, anything that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is in favor of, I am against, on the grounds that she totally freaks me out.
