Dear Pastor on Easter…
Dear Pastor,
Easter Sunday is almost here—Resurrection Sunday, the day we celebrate our Risen Savior, Jesus Christ. This truth sets Christianity apart: Jesus lived, died, and rose again on the third day. It’s the heart of our faith. With that in mind, I want to offer one simple piece of advice: Take the pressure off.
As a pastor, I know firsthand how stressful Easter can feel. Big holiday, big crowds, big expectations. We pile pressure on ourselves to deliver a sermon that “wows.” But here’s the truth: you don’t need to. Instead, just preach the Word of God as you always have with previous Sundays.
Here’s the truth, every Sunday is a celebration of the Risen Christ. It’s why the global church gathers week after week—because Jesus is alive. As Paul wrote, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile… But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead…” (1 Corinthians 15:17, 20, emphasis mine). Easter isn’t about outdoing yourself; it’s about proclaiming this unchanging truth: Jesus is alive.
So, Pastor, release the unrealistic expectations. You’re not called to perform—you’re called to preach. Share the gospel with passion and compassion, proclaim Jesus, and trust the Holy Spirit to move the hearts of man. Celebrate the Risen Lord with your congregation and embrace the joy of the day!
“The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…” (1 Timothy 1:15).
With love and for His glory,
Pastor Pusch
