💜Health Update💜
Greetings Friends and family! This update had been a bit more difficult to write and put it out there. On Monday, I went into surgery and the surgeon determined he COULD NOT move forward with the planned Whipple procedure. When the doctor went in, he found that the tumor was a bit bigger than what the scans revealed and that it had actually reached over to the lymph nodes closest to the area. The GOOD news is that the cancer has NOT metastasized and is contained.
The plan moving forward will involve chemotherapy and radiation treatments in hopes to shrink the size of the tumor and then revisit the Whipple Surgery down the road. We don’t any details after that as there will be follow up appointments with an oncologist who specializes in Pancreatic Cancer.
Right now, we’re looking to be discharged from Sarah Cannon by this weekend (maybe even tomorrow). Since the surgeon still had to make a large incision and I had to put under general anesthesia, there are certain milestones I have to hit before I can go home. I’m slowly hitting those goal. I do have some significant pain from time to time at the incision site, but they are managing it well and it’s getting better. I was so very thankful to be able get up and walk around the hospital floor the day after surgery several times with more ease than I expected! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
While this was hard news to take in— much we’re still processing together, WE ARE LEANING ON JESUS. There has been many tears shed, sorrows shared, and while we don’t know much about what lies ahead, WE DO KNOW OUR GOD IS ALL-KNOWING AND HE IS FAITHFUL! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
Thank you so much for your continued love and prayers. We definitely need them! While the words “thank you” are not enough, I know the Lord hears them and your prayers have brought us great comfort. Your love and support has really carried us through. And while this news has definitely been hard to take in and there still a lot of unknowns, we are grateful that WE DO NOT WALK THIS JOURNEY ALONE! So many of you have chosen to join in and walk with with your great love, support, and prayers.
Many people have asked how they can help and the answer at this moment is, I’m not really sure” but we know we’ll need it when more information is provided in the coming days and weeks. We are so thankful for every card, meal, monetary gift, and Venmo gifts - they have helped us more than you know!
