Lessons From Church Camp

Today’s post comes from my daughters (13 and 15). They returned home from Church Camp this week and we’ve been processing the lessons they learned while at The Crossings. Below are the notes from their camp notebook. I’m giving them to you “as-is” — right from their pens and what they were thinking as they were listening in on various sessions. You’ll see some random thoughts, verses to remember, and questions they’re asking.

Overall, I’m praying God will continued to work in their lives and the Holy Spirit to continue guiding their hearts, molding them more into the image of Jesus!

Jovie and Mia’s Church Camp Notes:

Verses to remember: John 1:1-13

Your whole life is a reflection of Jesus.

The way you love God will eventually show in the way you live.

God made everything and existed before time. Jesus is God.

We spend out lives with a worldview. At some point  we will start asking questions…

  • 1.     Who am I?

  • 2.     How did I get here?

  • 3.     What’s wrong with the world around me?

  • 4.     How do we know God is real?

  • 5.     What happens after we die?

We have meaning on earth simply because there is a God above. God is good, true, and beautiful.

Verses to remember: Colossians 1:16-17

Life begins with God.

He came to His own and even His own people didn’t receive Him.

I don’t know what it was or what it is, but I don’t think I’ve ever been or felt more in the presence of God.

Verse to remember: Hebrews 1:1

Verses to remember: John 10:7-10; 11-15

Jesus is THE door.

I see myself going astray in the things I say and the people I would casually hang out with.

Jesus wants us to follow His path of salvation.

Lean on Him and He will guide us in how we act and make decisions.

People are able to express their beliefs, but when Christians talk about Jesus Christ, they are pushed aside.

Jesus was hated before us.

The real issue is sin! Jesus deals with sin.

Jesus isn’t a part of my life. He is my life.

We often push God away in our trials and suffering.

If God doesn’t remove you from the fire, He will teach you in the fire.

Verses to remember: 2 Corinthians 15:21, Romans 8:10-11

Verses to remember: Luke 18:9-19

Justified – “Just if I” never sinned.

No sin is greater than the other.

Verses to Remember: Psalm 73

Our world has stayed from God.

When we remember God is good, we will not fall astray.

“Jesus, Son of God, Messiah, the Lamb, the roaring Lion. Be still and behold Him!”

People will accept you if you are a part of stuff that’s popular now and those people think Christians hate them, but we are the ones who really love them.

Christians have doubts but these doubts do not lead you away from God, but draw you close to Him. When He clears those doubts, He shows you that He is the way.

Verses that spoke to me: Psalm 73: 2; 6; 23-24

The sanctuary is where our hearts live.

When we live for the flesh, Satan maximizes temptation and wants us to stray from God.

When we have fears, remember that Jesus as our life in hands.

Verses to Remember: John 12:1-8

The only hope for the world is Jesus.

By His blood and for us, Jesus died.

Your life is wasted if you’re not living for Jesus.

We are not concerned w the “cultural norms” when we follow Christ.

When Jesus said, “Take up your cross,” He meant dying to yourself.

We are sinners.

The Glory of God

Verse to remember: 1 Corinthians 10:31

Do everything for the glory of God: dating, marriage, living, spending money.

It’s not about us, but it’s about God.

God is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him.

God is worthy of His glory!

Verses to remember: Isaiah 42:5-8

God calls us righteous.

God is the only way.

God’s glory is the ceiling of human happiness.

God is more important than earthly things.

Verse to remember: 1 Corinthians 5:32

We don’t always know the fullness of our choices for Christ. We’re just doing that, we’re living for God.

“Your faith saved you. Go in peace.”

Grow up and be women of God.

God’s top priority is to lead us to His glory.

Verses to remember: John 17:22-24 – JESUS PRAYED FOR ME?!?!

If he doesn’t take you out of the fire, He’ll teach you in the flames.

FOLLOW JESUS AFTER CAMP!

What do the decisions we make at comp mean after camp?

The decision for Christ is a decision to live WITH Him for the rest of your life.

“If we feel like it” is not a commitment. When we make a commitment, it’s not short term.

Love is not a feeling. It’s a choice.

Don’t add “if’s” to your relationship with Jesus. Simply “I will.”

God is worthy enough for us to lose everything!
